What is an Allotment?

Who am I?

My name is Eljay and I'm not your typical allotmenteer. I was extremely lucky to get an allotment and living in a flat with no garden made the prospect of getting my own patch of earth seem all the more brilliant...what I actually got was an abandoned, weed-tangled, derelict site, peppered with shards of broken glass! Oh and a whole load of ridiculous aspirations of transforming it into my own little Garden of Eden before the summer was up....one year on and I'm slightly wiser...slightly.

No matter what's going on in my life, visiting my allotment is the best escape.

A kids dream...

I'd always had an interest in gardening. When I was small, my dad sectioned off a bit of the garden under a tree where I used to "grow me plants". I loved it, all the plants had names. I'd even go out in the rain and sit under my umbrella to tend to them. Our dog Benji never did appreciate gardening though!
